| Description: | The Qualified Medication Aide, working under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse, will administer and document non-parenteral medications to residents in accordance with physician's orders and scope of practice as outlined under 412 IAC 2-1-9. The Qualified Medication Aide will provide direct nursing care to residents in accordance with facility policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. The Qualified Medication Aide will report resident needs and concerns to a licensed nurse.

| Duties: | The QMA will perform these tasks:
Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse in an accurate, timely manner.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory standards through in-service education programs and open communication with nursing administration.
Assure residents are given assistance with personal care, including, but not limited to bathing, grooming, oral care, dressing, toileting, assisting with eating and hydration, proper feeding techniques, skin care, lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting as outlined in the residents? plan of care.
Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
Monitor residents through frequent rounds to ensure that their personal care needs are being met.
Assume personal responsibility for handling resident?s personal property per facility policy.
Maintain resident rooms in an orderly and sanitary manner, ensuring that infection control policies and procedures are followed.
Answer resident calls promptly.
Identify resident problems and concerns and report them to the Charge Nurse, including but not limited to, safety issues, skin condition, nourishment concerns, and behavior problems.
Complete resident assignments timely, completely, and accurately.
Identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action.
Accurately document the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident's response to care provided.
Report changes in resident conditions to the Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing.
